Therapeutic massage is a wonderful way to care for yourself and your child during this time in your life.
A woman's body feels quite different during pregnancy:
*stress levels can increase
*new aches and pains in the low back and hips
*cramping in the calves
*sleep patterns get disrupted
*swelling in the hands and feet
Prenatal massage, also known as pregnancy massage, is a great way to address these issues.
I was certified in Prenatal Massage in Orlando in 2003 and have worked with thousands of pregnant women.
Massage or Knot offers a custom made table for Prenatal Massage which allows a woman to lay face down during their treatment. The table has cut outs for the breasts and belly, with support for the belly so that your low back will be supported. We also keep lots of pillows on hand so that you can be as cozy as possible.
Benefits of prenatal massage can include:
*relief of cramping in calves
*reduced sciatic pain in hips
*reduction of anxiety and stress
*relief of muscle aches and joint pains
*reduction of swelling in hands and feet
*reduced muscle tension and headaches
*improved oxygenation of soft tissues and muscles
Massage is safe for most women during pregnancy. But women who have recently experienced spotting/bleeding, pre-term contractions, or have any of the following issues should get approval from your health care provider before scheduling a massage:
*high risk pregnancy
*pregnancy via in vitro fertilization (IVF)
*pregnancy induced high blood pressure
*experiencing severe swelling
